We tendered to port in a storm…Should have been our first clue when the tender boat driver yelled “I can’t see” and the ship captain’s son had to help navigate us to shore.
Then we boarded a VERY SMALL plane
We then boarded a bus for our 2 hour drive to Torres Del Paine National Park, famous for the mountain peaks, waterfalls, and beautiful waters.
Our first stop, a little store that costs $20 for a pop and cookies! YIKES, Tourism is all around us!
These are llamas running across the road. There is thousands of them, they run wild.
Also, thousands of sheep have open plain where they also run wild. The guide said that not only man but the #1 killer of llama and sheep are leopards. A side note, these same leopards kill a tremendous number of humans. Here are some bones we ran across.
This is where we ate lunch, others ate lamb! I crashed on the rocks and sprained my ankle.
Back in the City of Puenta Arenas, Chile…
Because of the storm in the Pacific, we were allowed to stay in Puenta Arenas Chile port. There are some people very upset on the boat and they are holding a protest at 7:30 this evening. Whatever! One of Holland America other boats got caught in the storm and witnessed 40 feet high waves – no thanks! Later today the captain will inform us of what our route will be.
