Today is Thursday! I love how the elevator rug reminds us 0f good times we all have had together as the days have been running all together! We ported in beautiful Rio de Janeiro Brazil around 7:00 this morning. We stood on the deck watching our entry. After docking, we joined our tour. First stop was Oscar Niemeyer Cathedral with it’s breathtaking stain glass. Then on to Sugarloaf Mountain which we rode in a cable car high above the city– with a breathtaking view of Corcovado, the beaches, the Rio de Janeiro-Niteroi Bridge and the city of Niterio across the bay. Lunch today was an adventure in itself at a local restaurant on Guanabara Bay, with such delicacies as rump of camel; snake; guinie pig, boar, and we can’t forget the quail egg salad that Jerry downed! Needless to say I graciously passed and ate 4 olives and a slice of bread, Jerry was more adventurous but not for long! We then continued to Corcovado Mountain (recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World) to view the Christ Redeemer statue. The train ride up the mountain was almost straight up and very scenic. After we left there, we drove along the scenic drive of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. It was a 9+ hour tour and we were on a full march in 91 degree weather – a shower never felt this good!
That sounds like an awesome, jam packed day!! All the pictures look great! its been in the single digets here so 91 degrees sounds amazing!I was just about to email you also.. we havent really been able to hear on skype the last week or so. love you so much!
