Singapore, an island country, is the smallest country in Southeast Asia. It is the world’s 22nd wealthiest country with a foreign reserve of 119 billion dollars. When we received our passports, they inserted a notice that anyone having drugs would be sentenced to death. Also, it is illegal to possess chewing gum and the punishment is jail time! If you remember the incident a few years back where a young American was flogged because he keyed a car, that was here in Singapore. YIKES! But their crime is very low!
We met Mike and Wenndy at 9:00 and ventured out into the city. We boarded the MRT (the subway train) to Chinatown. We had to kick around for two hours in Chinatown waiting as they fixed the cracked screen on the IPhone. We also went to Little India, which had few vendors or attractions.
Jerry getting spiced pork jerky from a vendor.
An Indian temple and some birds were also at Chinatown!
Then, on to shopping at Orchard Boulevard
We tried these heavy wooden beads that work like a hula-hoop!
A storm rolled in, so after eating at a great pizza parlor, we took refuge in The Sands Casino! The casino is the tall building on the right that looks like a ship sitting on top of the building!
We rolled in around 2:00 – very short night, but we had lots of fun!
You guys look like you are having so much fun and i'm glad you guys are meeting more fun couple like you guys (especially so they can take more pic's of both of you)! That beaded hoola-hoop looks right up your ally mama! It's hilarious looking at the picture with dad doing it and the girls in the back ground snickering. And the birds swarming by mom. You guys are too funny. Sending my love!
