Friday, March 16, 2012–Day 70; At Sea

Today is a very sad day. Today’s blog is dedicated to Uncle Eddie Nelson.  Uncle Eddie passed away unexpectedly earlier this week and his funeral was held in Rochester today.  Uncle Eddie was always joyful and happy to be around.  Jerry grew up with Eddie and considered him more of a brother, than an Uncle.  Jerry remembers that his Grandma told him that each and every one of her kids were special, and that God threw away the mold when they were formed.  That sure was the case with Eddie!  As a kid, Jerry tagged along after  Eddie, going to Hawthorn school and chasing the basketballs, retrieving them for the big guys. Jerry remembers Eddie coming home from working at the bakery and bringing all of the extra rolls and donuts home. Eddie’s nickname when he was younger was Nelson Eddie, after a famous movie star of that time.  Later, when Eddie drove the van for our hotel, his nickname was Eddie Van Driver (after Eddie Van Halen, the singer!)  Everyone loved Eddie!  Eddie always had a smile on his face and a great disposition.  He will greatly be missed by everyone that knew him.
